Forces Reunited

On the 5th January I attended the studio audience of the filming of Forces Reunited. The filming took place in Sky Studios, Isleworth.
The show was hosted by former GMTV host Fiona Phillips, who helped bring together long lost friends and relatives of members of the Armed Forces.
Attending the show meant I could do first hand observational research and conduct brief interviews with members of the audience.
The show will be aired on the 5th May on Sky real lives, so make sure you look out for me!!

Help for Heroes Drink Reception 04/12/09

On Friday 4th Decemeber we were invited to join a private drink reception to celebrate the opening of "The Hero Inside" photography exhibition and to promote the book in Nottingham Council House on the market square.

The event was from 6pm-8pm, and allowed some of Help for Heroes higher donaters to view the exhibition, to purchase the photography or the book if they wish to. This event was great for us as we were able to meet and speak about our event to the photographer herself Gill Brown, Help for Heroes regional manager and the Mayor of Nottingham.

Key Quotes:

"98 pence from every pound donated goes directly to the charity, only 2 pence is spent on admin costs"

"The wounded soldiers are the celebrities"

"On average £45 000 is donated to Help for Heroes every day"

Destroy/Rankin

I really like this idea to raise money for charity. Rankin and Destroy artists have got together to produce artwork and raise funds for Youth Music (a charity that uses the power of music to change the lives of those who have had a difficult start by helping them to build their skills, confidence and self esteem.)

I also think the logo is really good, and something we could perhaps take inspiration from when designing our Boots for Troops logo.

Getting Radio 1 involved with with Anti-Bullying week is great publicity. We could look for local publicity to follow our Boots for Troops campaign, possibly Trent FM.

Ryan Air 2010 Calendar - All Proceeds go to Children's Charities

Written by: Steve Hawkes
Published: The Sun Thursday 12 Nov 2009

IT'S the cheap and cheerful airline that is supposed to offer no frills.

Yet these Ryanair cabin crew babes would put the glamour back into any flight.
Our exclusive pictures, in our slideshow below, from the budget airline's 2010 calendar feature trolley dollies from across Europe.

The girls are guaranteed to get flight deck temperatures soaring as they ditch their demure suits for flesh-flashing bikinis. And there could well be a spot of turbulence over Latvia - the Baltic state has FOUR of the 14 models featured.

January and August show UK crew members Hannah and Hollie. And Ireland is represented by April's Frances and June's Elaine. With the Irish airline famous for counting the pennies, earlier this year chief executive Michael O'Leary confirmed he was looking at charging passengers £1 to use the loo mid-air.

But the good news is all the proceeds from this flight of fancies go to a children's charity.

Beating Cervical Cancer Photo Stand

Stand in Victoria Centre, Nottingham

Leaflet containing place for Photo

On Sunday 25th October, in the middle pathway inside the Victoria Centre, Nottingham, 'Arm against Cervical Cancer' put up a stand to help gain and increase awareness of the new HPV vaccination for all girls born on or after 1 September 1990.

The stand was unique and drew in a lot of attention, because instead of handing out standard leaflets, people were able to participate in photoshoots with a range of funny and quirky props. The photo was then printed out immediately and placed inside a leaflet with all the charity and vaccination details. Such a stand will generate a lot of interest from teenage girls shopping with friends, which of course is their target market.

Just thought I'd post this to show fun and interesting ways to gain and increase awareness, if we wish to use something like this at our Help for Heroes event on a smaller scale we will need of something funny and quirky which will attract our target market.
